Chinese White Tea - Moonlight White

Regular price $42.00

Moonlight White is a superb example of Chinese white tea from Yunnan Province.

The name is said to come from the process of withering the leaves at night, ‘under the moon’ as opposed to under the sun. It has a smooth, creamy texture and a clean, refreshing flavor. Flavors of mild maple sap and sweet hay, characteristic of Yunnan teas, lasts through multiple infusions. We pick the very high-quality ones. It's rich, smoky and woody. The taste will actually get better the longer you store it!

History of the Moonlight White Tea

Several stories suggest that apart from how it looks, the Moonlight White Tea got its name from the way it was harvested back then in Yunnan Province. The tea buds are plucked and dried during evenings, under the glow of the moonlight. This is because the drying process is slower at night, which helps preserve the flavor and mouthfeel of the tea. Until now, tea producers and farmers still trek through Jinggu Country in Yunnan Province’s mountains in the evenings to pick buds off its tea bushes.

LIGHT, BUT TASTY

I have heard about white tea before from a Chinese friend but never had one, he has been telling me about it. I generally prefer light raw tea than mixed tea. It's truly one of the best teas I have had (I drink a lot of green teas, I think I will drink more white tea). Light, but tasty.

WONDERFUL

I really like this chinese tea. I have factored it into my budget. It has the right balance for me because I don't drink tea with sugar or milk at all. Moonlight white doesn't need any help, it truly stands on it's own for flavor and taste.

ONE WORD - RAW

I really like this tea (generally, i love grassy type of tea, and this is definitely one). I was a bit skeptic at the time before the purchase. I read the other reviews and figured I should give it a shot. It's really good and even more grassy and raw than i thought, like a sip of nature!

Simply beautiful

It's one of the best teas I have ever had. I have tried white tea before but not this one. I just put the tea ball in a strainer and let it steep for a few times. I don't usually drink that many teas at this season ( it's summer now in Australia). But because this tea is so simple and light, I can drink it anytime I want. It's simply beautiful.

VERY PLEASANT AROMA

I don't understand why, but this tea tastes quite milky, even without milk. The quality is very high. Very pleasant aroma, and I love the way the tea looks, like with white layers. Also it's name - Moonlight White : )
